Half of what is now called Clear Blue 22 was formed in 1993 when Paul Reyes and Don Simpson began writing music and performing together. Dave Block, a longtime friend of Pauls, joined the group in 1998. Still, something else was missing. When Paul came across a Female Vocalist Seeks Band ad that Jasmine Schwader had placed at a local music store, it all seemed to come together.

Fred is a musicians' musician. He has composed well in excess of three hundred songs and compositions. His background includes composition and performance experience in many musical genres, with deep roots in bluegrass and Country. Some of Fred's earliest influences were; Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Sr., Bob Wills, Sons of the Pioneers and Gene Autry.
